10 Random Acts of Kindness You Can Do Today
Posted by Mary Babiez on Feb 15 2017
This week is Random Acts of Kindness Week. These days I feel like everything I read is the opposite of kindness. Be it on social media, the news, online, I am inundated with negativity and ugliness. That makes this week of kindness seem more important than ever. As I was thinking about writing today's post, I looked back at a couple I've done before, and many of the ideas for random acts of kindness are similar. Then I looked around the internet and saw a lot of other similar ideas. While I managed to come up with some new ones and repeated some previous, I think my main point for this post is not so much new and innovative Random Acts of Kindness, but the importance of acting upon them now more than ever.
So here is my list, and you can find more inspiration at the Random Acts of Kindness Foundation.
- At the grocery store, pick up one of those small inexpensive plants. After you check out, give it to the cashier.
- Write Happy Kindness Day on a blank greeting card and leave it in a random neighbor’s mailbox. Sign it “from a random Neighbor”.
- Bring a plant to a local nursing home and ask the receptionist to put it in the cafeteria for all to enjoy.
- When driving in traffic, slow down, and let others pass.
- Give your server an extra big tip and write thank you on the bill.
- Let someone go ahead of you in line.
- Give bottled water and a snack bag to the homeless.
- Make a donation to your favorite charity.
- Take more time to smile and say hello to those you pass on the street.
- Let someone know you care with a phone call or an email.
