I was saddened to hear of the death of Maya Angelou. Over many years I have enjoyed her quotes on greeting cards, in calendars, and in a small glass holder with cards of quotes that can be changed out each day. The glass holder (for lack of a better description) sits on my desk and at times I use her quotes on my Facebook page. I've always felt both uplifted and peaceful when reading her words, and in tribute to her amazing life, these are a few of my favorite Maya Angelou quotes.

• When we give cheerfully and accept gratefully, everyone is blessed.
• Courage is the most important of all the virtues, because without courage you can't practice any other virtue consistently. You can practice any virtue erratically, but nothing consistently without courage.
• It is time for parents to teach young people early on that in diversity there is beauty and there is strength.
• Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud.
• I'm convinced of this: Good done anywhere is good done everywhere.
• I got my own back.
• I know for sure that loves saves me and that it is here to save us all.
• I am grateful to be a woman. I must have done something great in another life.
