Celebrate the 1st Day of Summer with Your Own Style Flip-Flops
Posted by Mary Babiez on Jun 20 2014
We just launched our summer kick-off sale and one of our top summer gifts for sale is our awesome Summer Fun Gift Basket, which comes brightly packaged in a top-of-the-line beach tote in the colors of the ocean.
This gift basket features our favorite summer book: Summer: A User's Guide by Suzanne Brown. This 224 page full color book is jam packed with all things summer: recipes, crafts, how-to's, fun facts and trivia, and the list goes on. I just love it!
With tomorrow being the start of summer, I chose a how-to from the book that is a quick and fun way to make your own unique flip-flops. So whether you're looking for an easy kids' craft, an inexpensive gift idea, or a quick way to indulge yourself in a new pair of flip-flops, with this DIY, you can't go wrong.
Materials you'll need:
Wire cutters
Silk flowers
Strong adhesive glue
Flip-flops
Instructions:
1. With wire cutters, clip a flower from its stem (some silk flowers simply pop off). If some of the petals loosen, simply glue them back together.
2. Squeeze a bit of glue onto the back of your flower, press it firmly onto the top of your flip-flop, and hold it in place until the glue has hardened.
3. Repeat this process for the other flip-flop.
You can find silk flowers at your nearest craft store or dollar store. Choose a big silk daisy in the color of your choice or something equally round and flat. This shape will sit better on the flip flop.
Happy 1st Day of Summer! How are you celebrating?
