Save the Children - One Year Anniversary of Oklahoma Tornadoes
Posted by Mary Babiez on May 20 2014
One year ago today, a deadly tornado struck Moore, Oklahoma and surrounding areas. With peak winds estimated at 210 mph, this tornado took the lives of 24 people and injured 377 others. In April of this year, 117 tornadoes have hit the Midwest and south, killing at least 37 people.
Save the Children needs all of our help to raise awareness of the often overlooked needs of children in disaster. Much can be done to protect children before disaster strikes. That is the goal of their “Get Ready Get Safe” initiative.
